"this past Spring we landed one of our biggest wholesale accounts ... This
company ended up placing a first order for 450,000 lip balms. Which is
dynamite, but a heck of a lot of work---we ended up hiring two people and
utilizing the help of friends and family just to fill that order alone (We
still made all the product ourselves, though, I'm too much of a perfectionist
to let someone else handle that), renting a storage unit to hold all the
supplies, etc. And of course, we had regular Etsy customers, shows, custom
wedding orders and the rest of our wholesale accounts to deal with at the same
time."
Let's just think about
how long it would take to fill this order. First, a bit of information about
how the shop works:
1. The shop
owner makes all the lip balms herself:
"when it
comes to the actual making of the B&B items, it's still just me. When it
comes to pulling and packaging orders, it's still just me. When it comes to
hand-writing out thank you cards and packing slips, it's still just me. Heck, I
won't even let Richard really make anything yet except for sample stuff that we
get distributed elsewhere and the odd soap or lip balm batch to ease him into
the actual product-making."
2. Her maximum
production has been about 700 per day:

ever made for one occassion was 3,600 lipbalms for Shecky's to be included in
their goodie bags. I worked non-stop for 5 days on that, including labelling
and packaging time."

3. To make 450,000 lip
balms at the rate of 700 per day, it would take 643 days to complete the order.
That's one year and 9 months, with no time off for holidays, and without taking
the time to deal with "regular Etsy customers, shows, custom wedding
orders and the rest of our wholesale accounts." The order might be
completed by December, 2012. But let's assume that, through various efficiency
measures, she is able to double her production, to 1,400 per day. At that rate,
the order would have taken only 10 1/2 months, or until January, 2012. Or--miracle
of miracles-- she is able to TRIPLE her production. The order would take only 7
months, or until September, 2011. Odd, though, that as of July 17,
2011, this order was being reported in the past tense and the job was
complete.

was no money to buy a ticket for the shopowner's mother, considering that
an order for 450,000 lip balms had been completed a short time earlier. See
II.D. above. What happened to the money from that order? At $.25 profit per lip
balm, this would have yielded $112,000. At $.10, there would have been $45,000,
and at $.05, there would have been $22,500.]
Summary:
No one is 100% consistent. But when a person makes so many
contradictory and questionable statements on such a range of subjects, then it
makes sense to be highly skeptical about any other statements that she may
make--including, for example, claims about the circumstances surrounding the
closing of her Etsy shop, and accounts of misfortunes that may induce others to
provide her with financial assistance.
This does not mean that all her accounts are necessarily false. For example, it may be that she is telling the truth about the death of her husband’s family even though she has made contradictory statements about her husband’s family, the closing of her shop, etc. But to be believed, she would have to present independent corroborating evidence, such as obituaries, news stories, death certificates, etc., none of which turn up in a Google search.
She would also have to explain why these deaths are not reported
on the U.S. government website that lists all deaths of U.S. citizens abroad
due to non-natural causes. From March through September, 2011, there was only
one instance of four deaths in a single location on the same day or within
a few days. This was a family of 4 who were killed in an automobile accident in
British Columbia on July 22, 2011; however, this family was from California and

is no reason to believe anything this person says.

Many things karina has said in the past never added up. I kept my mouth shut because who wants to believe someone is crazy or scamming? You just want to trust and help especially when they seem nice. Don't EVEN start on the people who donated to Karina. There was no scam on THEIR parts. They were only trying to do something nice for a person that they thought needed help. The person that received that money is Karina and she should attempt to explain theis shit, not the innocent people who she may have scammed.

The seller in charge of the fund raiser was only trying to do something nice for someone. There is no need to drag her through the mud. She is one of the nicest and most honest people I know.
I see no evidence of anyone attacking the people who raised money for Karina, or the people who contributed. In my opinion they are all innocent in this matter.
Anyone who helped Karina did it for the best reasons, to help out someone who appeared to be in need, and there is no reason to question them.

I contacted her directly on her zibbet and her facebook account to ask her why she gave me a bogus order. It was a $1400 order for over 25 of my items. I sent the author of this blog a copy of our dialogue. This liar set up a sock puppet account to place the order then closed THAT account. I reported it to etsy and they shut her down after investigating the sale. Why doesn't someone go to the liar directly like I did?
I did receive a copy of a private conversation between Karina and the seller. I do not believe it would be ethical for me to post it or allow it to be posted unless I had permission from both parties. All the material posted on this blog had already been posted elsewhere on the internet. Private conversations should remain private unless all parties say otherwise.

There is no proof she was thrown off Zibbet. Her shop did close after I congratulated her for being right back to her old chipper self after losing so many family members and how lucky she was the handmade community stepped up to help her not that it surprised me because that is how the handmade community is and that I would pray for her and for her mother's continued good health as well since she mentioned she was sick on her fund raising thread. Or something close to that.

Trashing someone publicly on a forum shouldn't be cool. So I agree with cbr on that point. Yet they basically endorsed fundraising for her and it is only responsible to ask they give the caring members who may have been scammed some explanation.
I remember the daughter comments because I tried to connect Karina and her daughter with health insurance through the State of NY. She changed her story to say she has excellent health insurance and no payments out of pocket. I haven't had any dealings with her since.
The reason CBR is not releasing details about this is because the site's own in in extremely critical condition and it would hurt his recovery at this time.
Surely someone has a sock account they can use to post this blog address to the main forums on Etsy. I don't think anyone is trying to defend Karina the Kunt but I do think it's strange that no one on CBR is allowed to talk about it. I really hope Karina Gallo Soap that Makes Sense is reading this and knows that her days of scamming Etsy members are over. What a lowlife chickenshit she is for not speaking up and apologizing to all the people she cheated. She needs to refund each and every one of them. It has been brought to my attention that Creative Breakroom have their own reasons for not addressing the fundraiser that they conducted for Karina. That is their privilege. I understand that the health of one of their moderators is important to the community, and I certainly would not want his health to be endangered.
However, it would be irresponsible to claim that this blog is somehow causing health issues for the CB moderator. The purpose of this blog is to provide information about Karina's public statements. If knowledge of those statements should cause problems for anyone, the fault lies with Karina for making those statements, not with this blog for reporting them.
If anyone needs to take steps to protect the health of this moderator, it is Karina, because it is her statements that have given rise to the controversy. If she is willing to share appropriate documentation, either publicly or privately to me, and if that information shows that this blog is incorrect in its statements and links, I am willing to remove the blog in its entirety. But I will not be intimidated or shamed into withdrawing what is simply a compilation of material that was posted publicly on the internet.

Well said, A. Dickens. Unfortunately, that's NEVER going to happen because she has no proof and she's just a worthless scammer. There's a Navajo saying, "Even the still wind has a voice" that applies perfectly to this situation. I don't know the moderator people are referring to, but have some requested this blog be taken down to protect his or her health? I have never heard of such a thing. Considering how other fundraisers have been very public and you see people donating $25, $50, $100 or more I'd say it's something to be worried about. In my life I don't think it's acceptable to lie and steal from people. If that makes me mentally ill so be it.

wow wow wow i've only just found this. if i were her i would close down and start again with a new persona and shop name. why on earth she tries to keep going would be funny if it wasn't so sick. not the brightest button is she? i'd also hope to dear god for my own daughter that nobody reports me for fraud and that i've learned a very tough lesson about honesty and integrity. unfortunately some types never learn and just keep doing what they do because they think they're entitled in some way. I thought on etsy she had a narcissistic personality and never understood why she got so much attention from her cronies. there was always something off-key about her posts and now i know why. this whole thing blows my tiny mind.
I donated several times and was sort of forum buddies with her. There was no reason not to like Karina. She made herself very popular. Now I see it was manipulation for her own gains and desires. I've tried over and over to see it another way but the fact she can't come out with proof to clear her name says it all. She's not hiding because she's been through so much emotional stress with her husband's family dying. She's hiding and under stress because she's been outed and she has no clue what the hell to do. Stay away Karina. Stay away and don't ever dare to shit on so many people ever again. I don't know how you sleep at night.

This blog is nothing more than harassment. You claim it is to get information out about a scammer. But the fact that you allow malicious comments calling this person names, greatly undermines any credibility you could have.
I have seen at least one commenter here harassing Karina in the forums of at least one venue. That is nothing but malicious bullying and accomplishes nothing but make you look like a stalker.
I don't know if she is a scammer or not. And certainly not up to me to decide that based on your links here. Who even has the time to read all that, much less seek it out and post it. But what you allow to be said here is as bad as scamming people out of a few hundred dollars, if not worse.
At a minimum, would you please moderate your comments and not allow useless namecalling that accomplishes nothing but make you look like cyber bullies? If you read all the comments, you'll find that they include name-calling directed against me and other contributors ("Stalker," "mentally ill") as well as Karina, so who is being harassed here? I do moderate the comments. Several comments (on both sides) have been suppressed because they consisted of little more than name-calling. But when a post contains germane discussion of the issue, I err on the side of encouraging discussion rather than on suppressing it. For example, I am posting your comment because I think it contributes to the discussion even though you engage in name calling. However, I may have made a mistake. If you feel that some comments are inappropriate please identify them and I'll take another look.

Are you saying that someone has posted a comment here and has also harassed Karina elsewhere? If so, how is that an indictment of this blog? If this blog has a core value, it is the need to support claims with specific evidence. I'm not sure what evidence you used to conclude that I am "doing a hatchet job" and "appear to enjoy it a little too much to be taken seriously." I assure you that I did not find and post this information because I enjoyed it. And unlike you, I do not think that open discussion of an issue is "as bad as scamming people out of a few hundred dollars, if not worse."
Finally, I need to point out that I have not accused anyone of scamming. I have simply identified contradictions in a number of Internet postings by Karina. On the basis of those contradictions, I have suggested that she is not a credible person. Moreover, I have offered to withdraw the entire blog if Karina presents evidence to show the truth of the claims she has made. So far, no such evidence has been forthcoming.
I understand that you may be reluctant to deal with the contradictory statements made by such a prominent member of the Etsy community. But no one is forcing you to read this blog. If you don't want to deal with the facts, you don't have to. But please don't attack the integrity of those who are trying to do so.

I just wanted to address the situation with the CBR moderators, as many of these comments are being entirely unfair to the one whose health is currently in jeopardy. He has not made any request to delete this blog or anything else, as he's not even able to be on the internet very much due to a recent and very serious condition resulting from his illness. As the "owner" of CBR, his main concern is legality over ANYTHING that is posted on CBR, so naturally, quirke would want to consult him before posting anything, or at the very least take her time and choose her words VERY carefully. Which is the course she had to take, because in his current stage of recovery, he is not allowed to be involved in anything regarding the forum, and no one knows when he will be. Quirke was acting conscientiously taking his possible feelings about legal issues and such into account when he is unable to know about or comment on this situation, and I am intolerant of anyone saying he needs to "stay off the internet" (which he currently has to do) or implying he is unfit to be a moderator or is somehow involved in keeping this "shut up" over on CBR (who, by the way, HAS now addressed the situation). Thank you.

I was one of the people who did donate and was taken in by the scammer. She should (but won't) be ashamed of herself for what she has done.
I do have one question though regarding the links in the blog ... the government link supplied is for tracing deaths of US citizens who were abroad and I thought her husband's "alleged" family were Italian. Is it possible that IF the accident did occur that it won't show on that page because the family were Italian citizens? She has told so many lies over time that this could be a case of "the boy who cried wolf", i.e. even when the truth is told no one will believe her because of all her past lies.
Either way she has some seriously major mental illness problems if she has to lie and manipulate the way she does.
